About Mattie

Trained with Spotlites Youth Theatre between 1995 and 2004 which provided experience in straight and musical theatre as well as more experimental techniques such as Theatre of Cruelty. Spotlites’ teaching focused on practitioners such a Stanislavski, Artaud and Brecht. Whilst with Spotlites, I performed in a number of semi-professional productions ranging from Shakespeare to contemporary theatre to a variety of musicals.

I undertook Theatre Studies A-Level with Maidstone Grammar School for Girls. We studied Stavislavski, Brecht, Chekov and Shakespeare. I received an A for my acting in both graded performances one based upon A Midsummer Night’s Dream and one playing the lead role in Brecht’s The Resistable Rise of Arturu Ui. I also played the part of Dromio of Syracuse in a musical production of Comedy of Errors performed at Maidstone’s Hazlett Theatre.

Over my career, I have worked with Sewell Barn and Maddermarket theatres, as well as open air theatre with Paul Hart’s Works Theatre company. I have also hosted a standup cabaret show and performed in numerous murder mysteries.

I have frequently been praised for my physical comedy and clowning and I also have the advantage of martial arts training, which proves invaluable for stunts and choreographed fights.
